Note Regarding Recent Characterizations of the May 2026 Board Meeting
Published by Sam Usem ·
In a recent article, North Shore Health board grapples with agenda, governance during challenging meeting, public comments described a discussion that occurred after the regularly scheduled meeting of the board as being primarily about interpersonal relationships and perceptions among participants.
That description does not fully reflect my recollection of the conversation.
Following the meeting, three board members remained with the administrator for an extended discussion. A journalist who had been present during the public meeting was asked to leave before the conversation began.
The discussion included topics beyond interpersonal relationships. These included governance, public communications, and questions that had previously been submitted through official board channels.
I am not suggesting that formal board action occurred or that decisions were made during this discussion. However, I believe it is important that the public record accurately reflect the nature of the conversation.
